The result of NEET-PG 2025 was declared on 19 August 2025. Accordingly, the revised qualifying percentiles for NEET-PG 2025 for the academic session 2025–26 are notified as follows:

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially revised the NEET-PG 2025 qualifying percentiles and cut-off scores for the academic session 2025–26 following directions from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. This decision was taken after reviewing seat availability and to ensure maximum utilization of postgraduate medical seats during Round 3 counselling.

As per MoHFW letter No. U-12021/11/2025-MEC (FTS-8363852) dated 09 January 2026, the minimum qualifying percentile has been significantly lowered across all categories, thereby allowing a larger pool of candidates to become eligible for participation in NEET-PG 2025 Round 3 counselling.

Category-Wise Revised NEET-PG 2025 Qualifying Percentiles & Cut-Off Scores

For General and EWS category candidates, the qualifying percentile has been reduced from the 50th percentile to the 7th percentile, resulting in a revised cut-off score of 103 marks out of 800, compared to the earlier cut-off of 276 marks.

Candidates belonging to the General PwBD category have seen their qualifying percentile lowered from the 45th percentile to the 5th percentile, with the revised cut-off score now set at 90 marks out of 800, down from the previous 255 marks.

For SC, ST, and OBC candidates, including PwBD candidates from these categories, the qualifying percentile has been reduced from the 40th percentile to the 0th percentile. Consequently, the revised cut-off score stands at -40 marks out of 800, compared to the earlier cut-off of 235 marks.

Impact of Revised Cut-Off on NEET-PG Counselling 2025

The reduction in qualifying percentiles is expected to have a major positive impact on NEET-PG 2025 Round 3 counselling, as it opens the door for thousands of previously ineligible candidates. This move aims to minimize vacant PG medical seats across government, deemed, central, and private medical colleges in India.

Candidates who meet the revised cut-off criteria are now eligible to participate in the upcoming AIQ and State Round 3 counselling, subject to MCC’s official schedule release. Important Instructions & Verification Guidelines for NEET-PG 2025 Counselling

Candidates are advised to read the NEET-PG 2025 Information Bulletin in light of the revised qualifying criteria and counselling updates. All provisions of the information bulletin shall continue to apply unless specifically modified through official notifications.

It is important to note that there is no change in the NEET-PG 2025 rank as published in the NBEMS result notification dated 19 August 2025. The lowering of qualifying percentiles does not affect the merit rank, and ranks already declared will remain unchanged for counselling purposes.

Provisional Candidature & Eligibility Verification

The candidature of all candidates remains purely provisional, subject to:

  • Fulfilment of eligibility criteria as prescribed in the NEET-PG 2025 Information Bulletin
  • Successful verification of Face ID and/or Biometric data, wherever required by the counselling or admitting authority

Candidates are strongly advised to regularly visit the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at www.mcc.nic.in for the latest updates related to NEET-PG 2025 counselling schedules, seat allotment, and notifications.

Verification of MBBS / FMGE Aggregate Marks

The aggregate percentage of marks obtained in all MBBS Professional Examinations or FMGE, as declared by the candidate in the NEET-PG 2025 application form, will be verified against original documents at the time of admission by the counselling or admitting authority.

Wherever applicable, the NEET-PG 2025 scorecard will mention the MBBS/FMGE aggregate marks provided by the candidate, especially in cases where such marks were used for tie-breaking of NEET-PG ranks.

If, at any stage, it is found that a candidate has provided incorrect or false information in the NEET-PG 2025 application form and such information was used to resolve a rank tie, the candidature of the candidate shall be cancelled.

Unfair Means & Disciplinary Action

Candidates found to have resorted to any unfair means or malpractice during the NEET-PG 2025 examination or counselling process shall be liable for strict penal action as deemed appropriate by NBEMS, MCC, or the respective counselling authority.

If such a candidate has already been declared successful, their result and candidature shall be cancelled or deemed to be cancelled.

MCC Allows Resignation from NEET PG 2025 Round 1 & Round 2 Seats with Forfeiture of Security Deposit

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has received multiple requests from NEET PG 2025 candidates seeking permission to resign from their Round 1 and Round 2 seats allotted through MCC due to various personal and academic reasons.

Taking the larger interest of PG medical aspirants into consideration, the competent authority has decided to provide a one-time resignation facility for such candidates.

Resignation Window for NEET PG 2025 Seats:

Candidates who wish to resign from their Round 1 or Round 2 MCC-allotted seats may do so during the following period:

From: 05:00 PM on 12 January 2026

To: 05:00 PM on 15 January 2026

Important Note for Candidates:

  • The resignation will be allowed with forfeiture of the security deposit.
  • All seats vacated through this resignation process will be added to the seat matrix of Round 3 NEET PG Counselling 2025. These seats will then be made available to eligible candidates during Round 3 choice filling, thereby increasing opportunities for aspirants participating in the next counselling round.
  • Candidates must physically report to the allotted college to complete the resignation process.
  • It is mandatory that the Resignation Letter is generated online through the MCC portal by the allotted college.
  • If the resignation letter is not generated online, the resignation shall be treated as “Null & Void”, and the candidate will continue to be considered admitted.
  • Candidates wishing to exit from their Round 1 or Round 2 MCC seats must strictly follow the stipulated resignation timeline and procedure. Failure to comply with MCC guidelines may result in loss of opportunity to participate in NEET PG 2025 Round 3 counselling.
